    Sponsors and Sites Overview

Once you've installed Arylia 3 for the first time, you have somewhat of a daunting task ahead of you. You must populate Arylia's database with your sponsors, their URLs, the sites they own, complete with banners, linkcodes, 2257s, RSS, and all the rest.

This entire task is accomplished under the "Manage" tab on the main menu.

    Adding a Sponsor

A sponsor is the parent company that owns the smaller sites. Sponsors are the sites that usually have "cash", "dollars" or "bucks" in the name, that you log into to check stats, download banners, and stay up-to-date on any new content they've released. Arylia understands the relationship between sponsors and sites, so you can keep your sponsor data organized.

    Adding a sponsor is simple.

    1. Click the "Manage" tab on the main menu.
    2. Enter the Sponsor name and URL.
    3. Select "content provider", unless the sponsor is providing ads that could appear on galleries that promote other sites (e.g. adbrite, AFF). Arylia calls these sites "general" sponsors. General sponsors' banners are only placed between rows of thumbnails. If you need ads from general sponsors outside your thumbnails, you can place them in the template directly. Therefore, if you do not need Arylia to place ads between rows, you should never choose "general sponsor".

    Adding Sites, Banners, and Linkcodes

Once you've added a sponsor, you can click on its name to view the forms for adding a site, banners, and linkcodes. You can add banners and linkcodes to any site from that site's sponsor's page.

    Please note:

    • When selecting niches for your sponsors, you can either select them from a combo box (if you've added niches before) or you can type them in a comma-delimited list in the text box. Niches you've typed before will automatically be added to the text box for easy access in the future.
    • RSS Feeds can be parsed by Arylia to generate a list of galleries to rip in a batch.
    • If you don't enter a banner and a linkcode for each site, Arylia may not display banner options when building a gallery for that site, since it knows you could not possibly use them.
    • Arylia considers text and html content "banners", even though they may contain no images. Any set of promotional data that is to be placed on a gallery by Arylia is considered a "banner" for consistency.
    • "Text" type banners will be linked using the linkcodes you enter. If you want only certain words to be linked, use an HTML banner.
    • Try to add banners that will fit well in your gallery template, and that match the types of banner identifiers that you intend to place there.
